Pomeranian
Better known as the "Lulu". The Pomeranian is the smallest of the European Spitz Family.
Height, weight: maximum height is 22 cm. It weigh, rounds off to 2 kg and a little more in females.
Fur, color: very long, rigid and bushy, even longer in the neck and tail area. Orange, black, gray, white or brown.
As a member of the family: sensitive and devoted to it owner. It doesn't like the changes in the atmosphere, and much less the changes in the family. Reserved and evasive with strangers. It's necessary to come it every now and then. It barks a lot, with a high-pitched tone.
Breed's character: cheerful, lively and affectionate. Very intelligent and fast in learning, for it's keen memory.
Common sicknesses: in some cases, conjunctivitis.

The Doberman
The Doberman is powerful and muscular, runs very fast and is a incorruptible guardian.
Height, weight: up to 72 cm; and 45 kg. Very elegant aspect
Fur, color: short, hard and dense. Black, dark brown or blue with rusty red, perfectly outlined fire.
Appropriate for: people who enjoy sports or who seek a good guard dog.
Not Appropriate for: people who don't like sports, have fast reactions, or want to be taken guarded.
As a member of the family: if included when young will be very caring with the family and children.
Breed's character: moody, brave, firm, naturally strong. The skin tension on the face doesn't let you guess it's mood. Psychologically sensitive. Actually is a one man's dog. Bred in the XIX century by Louis Doberman as a defense dog.

The German Dogo
The German Dogo is a giant dog with a large face. Qualified by its breeders as the "Apollo of dogs".
Height, weight: minimum height in males is 80 m; minimum weight is from 46 to 54 kg, generally 85 kg and more. Well proportioned body. Impressive aspect because of it's size and head.
Fur, color: short, dense, straight and brilliant. Five chromatic classes: white, tiger stripes, black and white spots, and black and blue.
Appropriate for: understanding people with a lot of space.
Not Appropriate for: beginners and people with rooms full of furniture.
As a member of the family: adorable, not noisy. Easygoing and sensitive, a friend of children. Used in the middle ages as a "bull fighter" and hunting dog. Although it has always been a famed dog, you shouldn't get it only for prestige reasons. Large food intake.
Common sicknesses: stomach torsion for eating too fast and furious; heart valve failure.

Beagle
Is a happy pack dog and is a good hare hunter. Is generally a friend of children and likes to play.
Height, weight: from 33 to 41 cm high; weighs between 10 to 18 kg.
Fur, color: short, thick and robust, short thick hair on the tail and always has the tip white. It has all the genuine colors of the Basset, except for chocolate-brown. It prevails of the tricolor: black shades and a reddish brownish over white. Or a bicolor with dark yellow or a lemon-color and white ( and a red over the white).
Appropriate for: people who like to move around a lot, who are looking for a lively dog for their children and that is able to live on one floor.
Not Appropriate for: those who are extremely strict with dogs.
As a member of the family: pleasant, very peaceable and friendly. Is not a good guardian. Its' sense of pack or family, is so great that it wants to befriend everybody, inclusively the assailant.
Breed's character: very sociable (likes to live with other dogs), affectionate and obedient. Has a strong character. Is self-assured and independent. It is also known for its good sense of humor. Has a tendency being curious and tracking down things.
Common sicknesses: robust; is not likely to get other sicknesses.
TheLabrador Retrieveris
TheLabrador Retrieveris stable and easy to handle dog, is a pro in the water.
Height, weight: from 55 to 57 cm; from 25 to 34 kg. Compact stability.
Fur, color: short, firm, dense; no waves or streaks on the paws or tail. Waterproof undercoating. Tail is covered with a compact, thick layer. Black, brown or yellow, single colored, no spots.
Appropriate for: families with children that go out for walks a lot, people that like to spend time with their dog.
Not Appropriate for: sedentary people who like the city or don't have enough time.
As a member of the family: very friendly with children and easy to educate. Social with other dogs and domestic animals. Relatively good guard. Very devoted.
Breed's character: isn't noisy and is unruffled even in a lot of traffic. Brave and very persevering. Good at tracing dogs and as a guide dog.
Common sicknesses: hip problems, hemophilia in some families.

The Pyrenean Mastiff
The Pyrenean Mastiff dog is a relative to the Spanish Mastiff, and to the Pyrenean Mountain Dog.
Height, weight: more than 72 cm in females and more than 77 cm in males. Weight is proportional with height.
Fur, color: black and white or black and orange, always masked. Long and very dense hair.
Appropriate for: whoever seeks an impressive dog and has the room.
Not Appropriate for: whoever lives in an apartment or small house.
As a member of the family: easygoing and attached. If it weren't for it's size it would be happy living in a small room. It's sheepdog ancestor make it a good farm dog.
Breed's character: easygoing and sociable with other home animals (even dogs), doesn't allow strange males around.

The Briard Shepherd
The Briard Shepherd is a "hairy heart-shaped dog": this is how they describe this sheep dog, in its French fatherland.
Height, weight: up to 68 cm high; weighs up to 34 kg. Muscular and well proportioned.
Fur, color: thick, long, and feels somewhat like a goats. All the standard colors, except for white; its preferably recommended for them to have a darker color.
Appropriate for: people who know a lot about dogs, intuitive and with a firm hand.
Not Appropriate for: the rest, precipitants, and for lazy people.
As a member of the family: a tough dog, with a tender heart. Ideal domestic dog. Above anything else, it loves its owners. Hates to be alone. Excellent with children. It is a good watch dog of the house and those who reside in it.
Breed's character: lively and spirited. Intelligent. Very temperamental. This dog, along with the Sheep Dog of Brie, appears in the Middle Ages, protecting herds and cattle. And was also used as a official watch dog in the French army. Because of its past sense of guardian over herds, it's recommended to start off socializing with it from an early age.

The German Shepherd

Height, weight: up to 65 cm high; weighs from 30 to 43 kg. Females and males must be perfectly well distinguished.
Fur, color: dense, compact, with a good amount of under hair, and thick hair in its tail. Black with regular marks of brown, yellow, light-gray or pure black.
Appropriate for: those who look for an intelligent dog and who dispose of enough time to train it. For people who need a good watch dog.
Not Appropriate for: elderly, delicate, or not very energetic people. Or those with a small housing.

The Siberian Husky
The Siberian Husky is the most widespread sleigh dog, known by the world, not only for professional trainers. It is very resistant and strong.

Fur, color: straight, medium length, flexible overcoat with soft and dense undercoat.
Appropriate for: winter sport enthusiasts, that move around in sleds.Not Appropriate for: quiet and inactive people.
As a member of the family: no aggression towards people. Kind and accessible, but very independent. Needs a person to guide it. Was originally bred by the Chukchi tribe as a sled dog to travel long distance. Nowadays, thanks to selective breeding, it is a good family dog.
Breed's character: great learning capability and therefore has a great adaptability. Not appropriate as a companion because it feels the need of running and freedom. It want to be demanded. In a pack, dogs worry a lot about each other and burn a lot of energy. Very clean.

A Cocker Spaniel
is a hunting dog that is strong and hardly ever gets tired. Its become a dog companion. There are various breeds of the Spaniel.
